Strike Watch: Eight episodes to go

posted on November 10th, 2007

Fans SupportFans rejoiced in late October when Samantha Who? was given a full-season (22 episode) pickup by ABC. But as the Writers Guild of America strike nears the end of its first week, and negotiations between the guild and major studios deadlocked, some believe the strike could stretch into 2008.

What’s that mean for the most-watched new comedy of the fall? According to TV Guide, twelve episodes of Samantha Who? will be produced. Counting the four episodes that have already aired, eight still remain to be seen.

For those unfamiliar with the strike, SamanthaWho.org recommends the following news articles and sites.

Please feel free to post your strike-related questions or comments. As fans of a laugh out loud show know, dialogue doesn’t just write itself.

It would seem that we Samantha Who fans really fared a lot better than some other shows. We got lucky and now I hope the writers do also. For all our sakes!

Samantha Who has been beautifully written and very enjoyable thus far. Hopefully, both sides can work together to find a way to continue this story that has just gotten off the ground. There is a lot more about Samantha we need to find out!

I have never been a huge fan of sitcoms and I can only count on one hand the amount of series I’ve really watched. Samantha Who is actually the first that I’ve begun to watch regularly. Why have I been watching? The writing is incredible and the actors are able to keep up. If is wasn’t for the writers there would be no Samantha Who for the past, present, and future. For the future of everyone involved, I hope an appropriate deal can be made that satisfies all parties involved.

Samantha Who? has been the most refreshing new series on television this year. The writing is fantastic and through it I’ve enjoyed discovering more and more about Samantha. A success for the writers would be a great success for this show as I, and I’m sure many other fans, can’t wait to continue learning more about Samantha.

At this point I’d say .. the show’s so darn’d good that even WITHOUT writers they could pull it off. It’s all a most clever illusion so much so that you get to thinking this is all real so yes indeed SAM on her own without prompting from a writer could in fact tell Mr Cellaphane to go _____________________

oops there’s a blank there. Perhaps a writer might come in handy every now, every then. Let’s hope they all settle this soon.

I’m grateful for the episodes that we have been able to experience of this awesome show, Samantha Who! I hope that the strike goes well for all involved, but I’ll be honest, I can’t wait for everything to be resolved and the shows to be back on track again! Dedicated fans will be here, waiting for their favorite shows to continue on! Samantha Who has two thumbs up from me!!! Can’t wait for more!

Yeah this strike really stopped things in its tracks. Yes they still have 8 episodes left, things are ready to start up again, but it may be hard.

My cousin played Jerri on the second episode, and was asked back to shoot another episode and then the strike happened…so the plans are set and things will happen once the show starts up again, and i really hope things get back to normal soon!!
